Experts Who Avoid This Will Struggle In The Second Half Of 2026
The world is speeding up. Here's how to keep up without losing your mind.
Hello friends,
The world feels nuts right now, yeah?
AI is moving fast. Markets are shifting. Things that worked a year ago suddenly donât.
And if youâre anything like me, your first instinct is to think harder.
âŚto figure out whatâs really going on.
Unfortunately, this is exactly where smart people get trapped.
I heard something a lot growing up, maybe you did too:
âFor a smart guy, youâre not that smart.â
I hated hearing it.
But eventually, reluctantly, I realised there was some truth in it.
I was an over-thinker.
I wanted to know âwhyâ about everything.
This meant that sometimes, by the time I was ready and excited to take action, my window had already closed.
Meanwhile, my âless-smartâ comrades were stepping out with blind confidence and taking action much more often than I.
Simple guy gets rich with company ABC selling boring stuff.
Smart guy goes broke waiting for everything to line up.
Smart people often choose filters over mirrors.
Think about a selfie filter on your phone or Zoom videoâŚ
A filter makes you feel good.
But a mirror shows you whatâs true.
A podcast can be a filter.
A course can be a filter.
Even a brilliant book can be a filter.
Not because theyâre bad, but because they can create the feeling of progress without giving us feedback.
A mirror is different.
A mirror tells you the truth. Customers are mirrors. Sales calls are mirrors. Publishing content is a mirror. Running ads is a mirror. The market is the biggest mirror of all.
The faster you get feedback, the faster you improve.
Thatâs why marketing works the way it does. Most moves fail⌠But occasionally something lands. Then you improve it and run it again⌠And again.
The feedback loop spins.
And the faster it spins, the faster you move forward.
But this goes way beyond marketing.
It applies to life and business too.
Because one of the best mirrors youâll ever find is other business owners.
The fabric of that network is simpler than we like to admit.
Itâs pickleball with your friend who owns the local bagel shop.
Itâs cocktail hour with your mate who runs a travel business.
Itâs gym sessions with your business coach friend.
Itâs motorbike trips with another marketer.
Itâs grilling meats with people who understand what itâs like to carry payroll, make decisions, and wonder if theyâre getting it right.
These people become mirrors.
Not because theyâre smarter than you, but because they can see things you canât.
They challenge assumptions, point out blind spots. People like this stop you from disappearing into your own head.
Unfortunately, many owners donât have this.
Many donât know a single other business owner.
Or, theyâre surrounded by people whose businesses look completely different from theirs.
In both cases, youâre largely a victim of circumstance.
But today, thatâs optional.
We live in a connected world.
Whatever youâre trying to achieve, thereâs probably a network built around it.
Years ago, I didnât set out to become a marketer.
I was trying to save our familyâs struggling business. The debt was heavy. Marketing became the lever that unlocked waves of customers. And life changed.
Today, I help other business owners do the same.
One of the things Iâve built is the Simplified Client Acquisition Network, or SCA.
Not because we need more information, no.
We need mirrors.
We need people who can help us see whatâs actually happening and what to do next.
This newsletter? Itâs useful, sure⌠But itâs still a one-way conversation.
Itâs a far cry from a mirror.
At some point, more information stops helping.
What you need is feedback.
You need mirrors.
Thatâs exactly why I built Simplified Client Acquisition.
Take a look.
If youâre unsure whether itâs a fit, send me a question from the next page, and Iâll help you figure it out.
Thanks for reading
Itâs gorgeous here in Hoi An, Vietnam.
See you next week.
Cheers,
Pat
PS: Iâm grateful for the free info I had back in the day, and am honoured to pass on my lessons. Hitting â¤ď¸ tells me this was useful.

That's a beauty! I could feel the difference reading that... for me wanting to avoid the discomfort of how reality can bite. Thank you for sharing this in this way, as I need mirrors đ
